Independence Day and the feast of Mother Mary’s Assumption celebrated

Aug. 15: Independence Day and the feast of Mother Mary’s Assumption was celebrated during the 8:00 am mass in the Parish. During the mass special prayers were made for our country as we are celebrating our 65th Independence Day. The liturgy was organised by the ICYM members.

Rev. Fr. Joel D’Souza O.F.M in his homily highlighted the importance of Independence Day and the feast of Mother Mary’s Assumption. Rev. Frs. Andrew Leo D’Souza and Sunil Pinto concelebrated the mass. After the mass a short flag hoisting ceremony was organised by the ICYM members. Rev. Fr. Joel O.F.M hoisted the flag and gave his message. Domincan sisters of our parish sang a patriotic song melodiously.

On this occasion the ICYM of our parish had organised Vanamahotsava. Rev. Fr. Andrew inaugurated the Vanamahotsava by symbolically planting a sapling. then the plants and sweets were distributed to the faithful. Happy Independence Day to all.
