COMMUNITY AND MISSION

Living in true communion with the Lord Jesus Christ, the sisters carry out their apostolic life which leads to witness, His true Love in the daily life. So we realize that there is a close link between community and mission. Though our house is mainly meant for the formation of the novices and the juniors who are frequenting the college, we do under take the following mission.

The community of Maria Kripalaya has taken up parish apostolate.
•    Teaching catechism,

•    Animation of Altar boys and girls.

•    Attending Basic Christian family unit meeting,

•    Sacristy work – mending of Church linen and altar decoration on Sundays and other special occasion.

•    The family visit without any distinction of cast, creed, language and culture, the recitation of Rosary, which we do on every Sunday, is a visible sign of the expression of the love of God.

From the year 2000-2007 some of our sisters namely
Sr. Juliet Nedumparambil, Sr. Annie Charanghat Sr. Mariamma Ignesappa and Sr. Rose Mary   Koran rendered their selfless service in RUSEMP.

For five years two of our sisters were going to Mukka to teach in the Holy Spirit School in the primary section. We gave up this mission when a new Congregation started a community in Mukka parish.

Laying the foundation stone for Karuna Matheya Sadhana( Home for the aged &  hostel for economically backward girls )on 22nd Feb. 2002 and  Inauguration was on  15th January 2007

Following the spirit of our founder we wish to give material, moral and spiritual support to the orphans. A few years back we started orphanage for the girls from the poor families. They were staying with us in the same building. Later by the providence of God we constructed a house for them. Last five years we are having 15 to 25 girls every year. At present we take care 15 girls irrespective of the religion and support them in their education.

St. Dominic

Founder of the Dominican Order

INTRODUCTION;
St. Dominic also known as Dominic of Osma, often called Dominic de Guzman and Domingo Felix de Guzman (1170 – August 6, 1221) was the founder of the Friars Preachers, popularly called the Dominicans or Order of Preachers (OP), a Catholic religious order. Dominic is the patron saint of astronomers.

Childhood: Dominic was born in Caleruega, halfway between Osma and Aranda de Duero in Old Castile, Spain in the year 1170. His parents were Felix and Juana. . The story is told that before his birth his mother dreamed that a dog leapt from her womb carrying a torch in its mouth, and "seemed to set the earth on fire. Dominic was brought up by his parents and a maternal uncle who was an archbishop.

Education and Early Career:
Dominic was educated in the schools of Palencia, afterwards a university, where he devoted six years to the arts and four to theology.  In 1191, when Spain was desolated by a terrible famine, Dominic was just finishing his theological studies. He gave away his money and sold his clothes, his furniture and even his precious manuscripts, that he might relieve distress. When his companions expressed astonishment that he should sell his books, Dominic replied: "Would you have me study off these dead skins, when men are dying of hunger?”

Foundation of the Dominicans: Throughout his life, Dominic is said to have zealously practiced rigorous self-denial. He abstained from meat and observed stated fasts and periods of silence. He selected the worst

accommodations and the meanest clothes, and never allowed himself the luxury of a bed. When traveling, he beguiled the journey with spiritual instruction and prayers. As soon as he passed the limits of towns and villages, he took off his shoes, and, however sharp the stones or thorns, he trudged on his way barefooted. Rain and other discomforts elicited from his lips nothing but praises to God. Dominic gathered a number of men who remained faithful to the vision of active witness to the Albigensians as well as a way of preaching which combined intellectual rigour with a popular and approachable style. In 1215, Dominic established himself, with six followers, in a house given by Pierre Seila, a rich resident of Toulouse. He subjected himself and his companions to the monastic rules of prayer and penance;

Death came at the age of fifty-one and found him exhausted with the austerities and labors of his eventful career. He had reached the convent of St Nicholas at Bologna, Italy,. He died at noon on 6 August, 1221.
