Aug 21:The Vailankani Ward feast was celebrated on 21-08-2011
with joy and unity. The ward members gathered for the Sunday mass at
8:00am, which was specially offered for the intentions of the ward. The
liturgy was well planned and executed by the ward members. The days
intentions included the various needs of the ward. Rev. Andrew Leo
D’Souza conveyed his wishes to Mrs.Shaila D’Souza, the Gurkarna and the
members of the ward. At the end of the mass cake was distributed to all
the parishioners.
The preparations for the feast began at the house of Mr. Elias Tauro. The ward members gathered there for preparing dinner, arranging stage and for the evening event. The unity of the members was felt very much here as the work was quickly done with all joining hands for the work. Evening dinner was prepared under the care of Mr. Vincent D’Souza.
The evening programme began at 5:30pm. The hall was full with ward members and others. Rev. Fr. Andrew Leo D’Souza, Rev.Fr.Sunil Pinto, Mr. Dolphi Miranda, Mrs. Zita Cutinho, Sister Superior and Mrs. Shaila D’Souza were present on the dais. Mr. Robert D’Souza was the M.C. for the evening. First the guests and the parish council members were felicitated with flowers. Then the elder members of the ward, catechism teachers and members of various parish organisations were honoured for their service. Top achievers of the ward in academics were presented with mementos. Miss Teresa Sequeira and Mr. Robert D’Souza were specially honoured by the parish priest for their contribution towards the ward. The children enthused the gathering with their dance and song. Ms. Anita Mendonca conducted games for everyone and Rev. Fr. Sunil Pinto also conducted some games for everyone. Mr.Vincent D’Souza thanked everyone who made this day a success. At the end delicious dinner was served for all.
