“Into your hands I commend my spirit”…

The whole creation comes to a still when the redeemer shows how much he loves us by stretching out his arms on the cross. It is not how much we are loved but it is how much we love keeping Jesus Christ in mind. The reality is so horrible it is not surprising that people should have found it a stumbling block to faith. We may say that on the first Good Friday afternoon was completed that great act by which light conquered darkness and goodness conquered sin. The traditional worship began at 4.00pm beginning with the way of the cross and traditional unveiling of the cross marking the suffering of the saviour. The worship ended with silence in order to mark the mourning of the passion of the lord.
