Aug 15:Independence Day and the feast of Mother Mary’s
Assumption was celebrated during the 8:00am mass in the parish. During
the mass special prayers were made for our country as we are celebrating
our 64th Independence Day. The liturgy was organised by the ICYM
members. Rev. Fr. Andrew D’Souza in his homily highlighted the
importance of Independence Day and the feast of Mother Mary’s
Assumption. Rev. Fr. Sunil Pinto was the main celebrant of the day.
After the mass a short flag hoisting ceremony was organised by the ICYM members. Rev. Fr. Andrew D’Souza hoisted the flag and gave his message. Mr. Arun D’Souza, the Gurkar of Sacred Heart gave his view on the Independence Day. On this occasion the Catholic Sabha had organised Vanamahotsava. Rev. Fr. Andrew inaugurated the Vanamahotsava by symbolically planting a sapling. Rev. Fr. Sunil Pinto distributed the sapling for the parishioners and reminded them that he would be visiting the houses to inspect the condition of the sapling. Happy Independence Day to all.
