Maundy Thursday - 2016

In commemoration of Lords Last supper, the institution of holy Eucharist and institution of holy Priesthood, A holy Eucharistic celebration was held in Pakshikere church. The evening ceremony began at 6:00 PM. Fr. Andrew Leo D’souza the Parish Priest celebrated the Eucharist. Assistant Parish Priest Fr. Patrick Sequeira concelebrated. In his Sermon the main celebrant spoke about all the three events that are commemorated on Holy Thursday.

After the homily Fr. Andrew following the example of our lord washed the feet of the 12 representatives of the people. There was something special this year and it was heeding the call of our Holy Father Pope Francis, 12 representatives were chosen from different associations of the Parish and this included Women and children. After the Holy Communion there was a short adoration and a procession to the Altar of repose where the consecrated host was placed for worship and for the use of Good Friday Service. The ceremony ended with the blessing. Nearly 500 people participated in the service. Everything got over by 7:00Pm
